Finally PSLE ends.
6 years of study, ends in one week.
Nothing else to study for.
Before PSLE, very stress.
It was study, study and more study
No soccer, no basketbal, no computer :(

Cannot do anything. Restricted. Like in jail.
During PSLE,very tired. Maths problems keep appearing in my head.
Want sleep also cant sleep.
All the paper so hard :X
Some questions cant even do =.=

After PSLE, very happy :D

Can celebrate and have fun.

No more study :D

Earth Hour

Earth Hour was made by government to raise awareness about climate changes and global warming. Want us experience how "scary" without electricity :X

So during the Earth Hour all off all lights liao. Light some candles. Eat dinner. Wait 1 hour over.

Overall was quite fun la. Enjoyed quite abit. Short post only. Busy now :X

CA1 Results

CA1 Results

My CA1 results has just been released!!!! There are good news. But with good news always comes bad news ;( Some of my results has met my requirement but some hasn't. I think its due to the paper difficulty as many people have done quite badly. The results are as follows:

English: 78.5/90 (A) Top In class :D

Mathematics: 91/100 (A*) 4th in class :(

Mother Tongue (Chinese): 83/90 (A*) 4th in class :(

Science: 82/100 (A) Top In class :D

Higher Mother Tongue (HMT): 56/60 (Distinction :D)

Some of my results has met expectation, but some hasn't I think I must improve in my Science and English. They are some of my worst subjects and if I do not improve them, I do not think I will be able to get 263 in my PSLE :X Im quite happy and satisfied with my other subjects and I will work hard to strive for it. I think I have not studied hard enough resulting in some of my poor results and I must study harder in order to get good results in PSLE.

Singapore Education System

Singapore Education System

I think that the Singapore Education is working quite well, except that the pupils creative skills are vanishing throughout the process. The school system is pretty rigid as there are only paperwork and the school pupils just study all day. When they do the written exam, they just try to memorise their notes, and that is why they do not think as much, but they just memorise.

They hardly use their creativity in certain things as all the paperwork only require memorising the different notes and then writing them down on the paper. This is probably the reason the pupils do well in paperwork, but not when it comes to thinking.

When the Science Practical test was introduced, I myself did very badly as I was not used to doing hands-on work. I think it is good that the MOE has decided to introduce a greater focus on creative and critical thinking, as well as life-saving skills, so that the pupils do not just memorise, but try to do it themselves.

The subject-based banding is another creative introduction from the MOE. This allows the pupils to excel in what they are capable of doing and learn slowly in what they are weak at. Everyone as their pros and cons and thus, this introduction I believe, will help many pupils at school.

Overall, I think the MOE are pretty creative and they should introduce more hands-on work which involves critical and creative thinking for the pupils.

Outdoor Activities

Hmmm, what do i do after school? I actually do alot of things after school like going out with cousin for a movie, or I go to a nearby library to study. I also have tuitions and badminton training after school. I think this activities can help me to relax and study better when I get back home. They do not stress me and I think of them as leisure rather then stress.
On Saturday and Sundays, I actually go to the MacRitchie Reservoir and have a stroll with my family there. It is considered "Family Time" as my parents are usually busy with work and my brothers with other enrichment classes. This is a time where we stroll and chat with each other. I hope I can continue this activities as they are very relaxing.

Total Defence

What I would like to defend......

I would like to defend alot of things, my friend, my family, my friends and last but not least, my home. But the thing I would like to defend most is my family. They have been supporting me since birth and whenever I run into trouble, they would be the first to be there to support me.

Grandmother: Cooking all my favourite food, fried chicken, steamed fish.

Mother: Always there to help me with homework and gives me pocket money. :) $$

Father: Buying new stuffs for me like phone, computer games. :)

Brothers: Introducing me new and nice songs, brings me out for movies and arcade. :D

Cousins: Always here for me, backing me up and watching movies with me, playing with me

My target for PSLE...... Hmmmmmmmm, I would want a 263 in my PSLE aggregate score to get into Hwa Chong Institution (HCI)

English:91 (A*)
Maths:91 (A*)
Chinese:91( A*)

To acheive targets, I have decided to:
Exercise and sleep more
Play less computer and watch less TV
Read more non-fiction books
Do more assesments
Complete all my homework
Do revision
Pay attention in class

Benefits:
Knowledge will get better
Result better :)
More energetic and fit

The Next Step Forward

With the year 2008 ending, I am another step nearer to my P6 PSLE. Thinking about what I have achieved in the past year, I think i have achieved quite a lot including many competitions like the Maths Amazing Race at NUS Secondary School, creating a Mathematics game, a Mathematics Quiz at Maris Stella, another Science Amazing Race at Anderson Sec, coming in as one of the winner in a creative writing competition organised by BIC, and last but not least, a Roving DV competition where me and some of my friends came up with a video with the topic "Learning Beyond The Classroom".

I also got many certificates from New South Wales, English Distinction, Maths Distinction, Computer Skills Distinction and a high Merit for Science. I also got a certificate from NUS Maths Olympiad - Honourable Mention.

I think more competitions will be heading my way but i guess i will have to reject some as i also need time to study for my PSLE.

I am also quite happy with my CCA achievement as I am now in the badminton school team and I will have an upcoming badminton competition in Mid-November. Although i doubt i will be able to win, I think this is a great exposure for me to improve my skills.

Some of my regrets are doing badly for my Mathematics Exam in SA2. I think I need to have more time management as I did not complete the Maths Paper and had no time to check. As a result, I only scored 80/100 due to careless mistakes that were not meant to occur.

I think i will really have to strive for my PSLE and try to get a high aggregate score as it is one of the most important exam in one's life and it will determine which school I will go to. Getting into a bad school would ruin my future so in order to get a good school, I will have to study hard.

My target for next year will be to achieve a bronze medal in the school zonal competition and at least a PSLE score of 250.

Sleepy Kids

Another reflection on an article "Sleepy Kids". Talking about sleepy kids, I start to wonder if I have enough sleep everyday. Let's see, I have about 7 hours of sleep everyday. I know its not enough but I just can't fall asleep before 11. Becoming a habit of mine I guess.
My parents make me sleep at 10.30, but I usually go to sleep at 11 as I watch TV untill 11. Although I know lack of sleep could cause slow mind activity, I still can't get myself to sleep early as it has always been a habit of mine to sleep at 11.
Well, I guess its time to sign of my post! Have an early and 'sleepy' night!

Cyber Bullying

Ever heard of bullies? They are the ones which cause trouble to the society cause fear to many students. Research from the Singapore Children Society have found out that 1 out of 5 primary students are being bullied and 1 out of 4 secondary students are being bullied
Bullying can come in many kinds, verbal bullying, relational bullying, physical bullying and lastly, cyberbullying.
Today I will be focusing on cyberbullying, which is a kind of bullying done in the cyberworld (online). Cyber bullies are those that post untrue things, or rumours online to humiliate other people. They also scold people with verbal abuses on online games disgracing other people. They do not know that those bullied by them feel very hurt. They are the real cowards as they only bully people behind the screen. Althought I have not been bullied through the cyber world, I have seen people getting bullied online. I will try to comfort them and ask the bully to STOP!
Remember the golden words: If you do not dare to say it face to face, why say it behind a screen?

~NE Show~

NE Show for the P5's! Once in a lifetime chance for us to see this spectacular show that Singapore governement has organised. So excited I could hardly sleep!
(The Day of the Show)
Arrived at school at 1.45p.m. feeling tired. Had a late night the day before. Saw my friends already assembled in the hall. After some chatting, the teachers came in and briefed us on what the activities were. After a long long wait, we were finally up the bus and ready to go!
We got of hurridly from the bus and started our 15 minutes walk to the gallery. After the hot and tiring walk, we finally arrived at the gallery, waiting to see the spectacular show organized for us. The show was AWESOME! The air display putted up by the pilots was a scene not to be missed! The atmosphere was filled with excitement as two planes drived straight at each other, missed crashing by an inch! Not forgetting the big heart made of fumes by the pilots.
This was really a spectacular show!

Reflection 4

Today, I will be talking about the food in our canteen. I eat in our canteen most of the time and although there are some food that are not that tasty there, there are also some tasty ones. I like the noodle store (Store 4) the best as I feel that the price there is reasonable and the food is good.
Secondly, some drinks in the drink stall are healthy for the body and thirst quenching. However, there are some drinks that are extremely sweet and artificial. They do not have the original taste as many artificial products are added into those drinks. I strongly suggest those drinks be removed.
Thirdly, I believe that there are alot of rumours going on that our stall food is unclean and there are cases of cockroaches and lizards being found in the food. I believe they are just rumours and should not be believed as they only ruin the image of our canteen. If we ourselves do not trust the stall being clean, would others? I hope that this rumours will stop.

Road Traffic Game

Today, we went to East Coast Park for the Road Traffic game. The journey was long about 45 minutes but I think it was worth it. When we went there, we were seated and briefed in the hall about what we were suppose to do. We watched a video explaining what our objectives were and what we do would give us demerit points. There were 3 roles, the pedestrians (most common), cyclist(4 per class) and motorist (3 per class).
I was a pedestrian and my role was to go to each different checkpoint and answer the question, also letting the martial sign my paper. Any act of jaywalking, running, or any unethical things could lead to getting a demerit point. Luckily for me, I did not get a demerit point not because I didn't run, its because the martial didn't catch me =). I was the first to complete the form and hand it to the teacher and that leaded me to getting the certificate of commendation! It was pretty fun but I was sweating by the time I finished as it was burning hot. I went to a store, beside the briefing point and bought 2 cans of 100 plus. That was sooo cooling! We ended not long after and took the bus back to school, another long and tiring journey, and after we reached school, we were dismissed not long after.

My Ambitions

Ambitions... I'm sure everyone has different ambitions and different ways to achieve it. Today, I am going to talk about my ambitions. My ambition is to become a badminton player, playing in the worldwide tournament representing Singapore. I am training very hard now to acheive this dream of mine. This inspiration has came from my family because my family members all plays badminton and my brother, was in the Anderson School Team once and acheive a bronze medal. I started learning badminton when I was P2 and I had that dream since then.

My holidays

So... after my CA1, my holidays came and i didn't do really much... Completely nothing to do! I finished my homework quickly in the first few days and the remaianing days I was sooo bored as I could only play the computer, and go for my badminton practice which was quite fun =). Not even a movie this holiday which is why i said it was completely boring.
Hope the next holiday will be better! =)

Test Week

CA1 finally over! Holidays coming soon! I was so nervous during the test! =( But now test over, can start relaxing and play computer. The test was quite hard and I got very lousy marks for my english and HCL(Higher Chinese Language) Well, what's done cannot be undone. Just work harder for my next test! Happy March holidays to all!

Oh and by the way, I won't be posting anything soon... Very busy nowadays as I have lots of tution homework. Just found a strict tution teacher.

CNY(Chinese New Year) Celebration

The long holidays on CNY! On the first day, I had a good sleep till 11 a.m. I was feeling refreshed and energetic. We went over to my maternal grandmother's house and it was real fun playing with all my cousins! I recieved lots of 'hong bao' and ate lots of delicious food. I was thinking of taking some food with me but my mother didnt allow :(. Well, thats all for the first day. On the second day, we went over to my paternal grandmother. I went bowling and rollerskating with my cousins and it was super fun! Well but as the saying goes, "time flies" and soon, we were about to go home. Oh well, I guess good times never lasts... Third and fourth day were boring as we were in house the whole day. End of my post!

Another post to add to my blog.... Chinese New Year!

I wish that Chinese New Year would be coming soon so my father and mother will let me play computer games =P.Just a few more weeks and Chinese New Year will arrive!By the way,I am very busy in school now as i need to stay back for 4 days in a week! I wish public speaking would end soon and I would have an extra day at home! Being a prefect means losing half of my recess time, but I like being a prefect as I can help my teacher control naughty students.

My form teacher is Mr Alan Tan and I am in class 5.7. All my 4.7 friends are in my class and I am very happy to see them after a long holiday.It was very boring in the December holidays and I really wished that school would start soon.I was hoping I would get a good form teacher. Mr Alan Tan is very kind but he can be very angry at times.
